The Spanish Society for Non Destructive Testing, from now on AEND, is a non-profit, of civil characterindefinite-lasting society which has its own legal personality. AEND unites the various professionals and companies dealing with Non Destructive Testing.

AEND was founded on September 27th, 1988 during a General Assembly held during the VI CEND Congress in Vigo (Galicia, Spain). It was registered in the Societal Registry on January 25th, 1989, after satisfying the applicable legal formalities.

On December 23rd, 1997 CERTIAEND (AEND Certification body) was accredited by the National Accreditation Body (ENAC) as a certifying body for NDT personnel according to UNE EN 473:1993.

Mission Statement

AEND sphere of action covers all the Spanish territory, and its fundamental goals and aims are the following:

  • Promoting and facilitating the setting-up of NDT management and improvement techniques in industrial companies and public and private services.

  • Promoting professional advancement and permanent training in NDT-related matters amongst its members.
  • Promoting and empower the teaching of those techniques at all levels and aimed at all type of public and private entities.
  • Promoting the research in the NDT different methods.
  • Certifying NDT personnel by means of CERTIAEND, AEND Certification body.
  • Collaborating on the drafting of the Standards and Specifications on NDT together with the suitable national and international bodies.
  • Promoting, organizing and sponsoring working groups meetings, conferences, congresses, workshops, exhibitions, shows and other activities in which NDT technical or scientific works are discussed, studied o published; as well as collaborating with other entities to spread knowledge and development of the NDT.
  • Offering consultation services to members on NDT related issues. Such services could be extended to non-members if and only if approved by the Board of Directors and on an agreed set of conditions.
  • Cooperating with the National Authorities and other public or private entities in the advancement of NDT. AEND also informs to those entities about any given problem faced with NDT at different moments.
  • Collecting and selecting information on NDT science and techniques, as well as NDT scope, to make it available to the general public or to its members, more particularly.
  • Providing technical and intellectual support as requested on NDT in general, or on a more specific matter
  • Promoting at any level required NDT-related personnel training and qualification.
  • Promoting any other activity of interest, within AEND scope.
  • To better achieve its mission, AEND shall be able to cooperate with any other society of similar nature, be it national or non-Spanish.
  • To better fulfill the above stated aims and goals. The Government Council will prepare AEND Internal Regulation, according to the applicable norms.

Informative and diffusion activities

Activities include research, training, meetings, symposia, congresses and information exchanges, literature and publications of any kind related to NDT and its development systems.

  • Certification: NDT Personnel Certification
  • Training: Organization and impartition of courses and seminars on NDT.
  • Diffusion: Publication of a magazine on NDT.
